Rustic, restored farmhouse that is over 150 years old, in the mountain hamlet of Betis at the foot of the Sierra de San Bartolome – between Bolonia and Tarifa town and above the Punta Paloma sand dune Tarifa. A wonderful location with easy access to both Tarifa and Bolonia beaches, 10 mins away, and with Tarifa town at just 15 minutes drive.
The position up in Sierra de San Bartolomé offers spectacular views over the bay below and the straits of Africa, in a very private, rural and privileged location. Betis is popular for mountain climbing and walking, and there is a lovely restaurant which is a local secret in Betis called El Tesoro – originally a gastronomic club and now open to the public – a romantic and special place to eat with delicious food.Â
From the gardens and land in front of the house you will be able to enjoy all the farm animals, a wonderful opportunity for children as the goats, cows and donkeys roam freely by the house in the green pastures and also for bird watching as there are always birds of prey and vultures circling overhead.
Casa Betis is more than a holiday house, and makes a very comfortable and elegant country home for a summer or winter holiday. In the renovation all the stunning original features have been restored, including the Tarifa stone floors, wooden beams, reed ceilings, metre thick walls (heaven in the heat of the summer as they keep the house nice and cool) and reed roofs. There are two sitting rooms; a winter one – with wooden floors, fireplace, stereo, Satellite TV/DVD and and a summer one – with terracotta tiled floors, air conditioning and a piano.
The house sleeps eight people in four bedrooms; two doubles (with air conditioning) and two twins with three bathrooms.
There is a well equipped kitchen with an eating area, dining room and conservatory – so plenty of space for everyone.Â
Decorated in classic Italian furnishings with stunning doors from Mali, this would be a very special place to spend your holiday in Tarifa hidden away from the crowds.
