Fabulous country retreat that has been fully refurbished in 2021 to a very high standard, both stylish and contemporary. The farmhouse is over 150 years old, located in the mountain hamlet of Betis at the foot of the Sierra de San Bartolome – between Bolonia Beach and Tarifa town and above the Punta Paloma sand dune Tarifa. A wonderful spot with easy access to both Tarifa and Bolonia beaches, 10 mins away, and with Tarifa town at just 15 minutes drive.
The position up in Sierra de San Bartolomé offers spectacular views over the bay below and the straits of Africa, in a very private, rural and privileged location. Betis is popular for mountain climbing and walking, and there is a lovely restaurant, which is a local secret in Betijuelo called El Tesoro – originally a gastronomic club and now open to the public – a romantic and special place to eat with delicious food.
From the gardens and land in front of the house you will be able to enjoy all the farm animals, a wonderful opportunity for children as the goats, cows and donkeys roam freely by the house in the green pastures and also for bird watching as there are always birds of prey and vultures circling overhead.
This property has been thoughtfully refurbished and is a fabulous choice for winter or summer. In the renovation all the stunning original features have been restored; wooden beams, reed ceilings and metre thick walls (heaven in the heat of the summer as they keep the house nice and cool) . There are lots of different sitting rooms in the house for the winter and the outside seating area in the summer is comfortable and extensive. There are two kitchens, one to feed the garden terrace and the other for interior dining.
The house sleeps eight people in four bedrooms; two doubles and two twins with three bathrooms (with three showers and one bath). The beds are all brand new and bedding is linen. One of the double bedrooms has a roof terrace with large lounging cushions for reading and enjoying the mountain views.
This property is next door to two other properties, owned by the same couple, all three properties are of the same high specification and in total can sleep 16/18 people. All of the properties have their own entrances, private gardens and swimming pools.
N.B. The staircases might not be ideal for groups with mobility issues.

End cleaning is included for all bookings. However, in all cases you are responsible for keeping the property and all its contents in the same state of cleanliness, repair and condition as at the commencement of the holiday. The owner reserves the right to make deductions from the security deposit for any extra cleaning, over the number of hours committed to departure cleaning.
This property is situated in the mountains above the sand dune of Punta Paloma, the road to the house is paved but not in the best condition. The parking outside the house is off the main road, so it is worth renting a car that is a little higher off the ground, like a Berlingo or an SUV.
